And speaking of France...

Apparently, France has just approved a tax on incoming airline tickets. It comes into effect on July 1st, and it will subsidize the spread of AIDS on Africa by providing funding to the people who insist that condoms actually prevent AIDS.

Look at the facts, folks. Condoms have never been 100% effective at preventing pregnancy - failing some 1-2% of users each year, even when used consistently and properly (the actual failure rate here is something like 15-20%). If they can't prevent preganancy in all cases, they can't prevent AIDS in all cases. And they still do almost nothing to stop human papillomavirus and certain other STDs. (You'll hear everyone under the sun saying that they are "highly effective," but in the face of these numbers, this is utterly disingenuous, since AIDS is nearly always fatal).

The information technology industry deals with a fundamental problem every day - it is hard to find a technological solution to a human problem. People are sinful, and no machine can completely protect us from the effects of our sins.

In Uganda - where, incidentally, there is a strong Christian presence - AIDS prevention focuses largely on abstience. Uganda has had a great deal of success in combating AIDS. This is no mere coincidence - if sex spreads AIDS, and larger numbers of people have fewer partners, why is it so hard to reason that, therefore, abstience curbs the spread of AIDS?

With that in mind, folks, Jayme pointed out the following:

-Traveling to France will help fund the people who encourage condom use in Africa.
-Encouraging the use of condoms in Africa will promote death.
-Promoting death is morally evil.

Therefore, traveling to France is morally evil.
